    DOLLHOUSE cancelled! (of course)

    Posted by Rudie Obias |

Well, we all saw this coming. The moment we heard the words, "Joss Whedon", "new show" and "FOX" in the same sentence, we knew this was not going to be pretty. Yes, in fact, the story is true, DOLLHOUSE is officially been cancelled.

It was first reported on Maurissa Tancharoen's (writer on DOLLHOUSE) Twitter account: @MoTancharoen "Yes. Cancelled. Sad but true." and then quickly confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, that FOX, indeed, cancelled the morally grey sci-fi series earlier today. This was not a complete shock to me. As I stated a few weeks ago, when FOX announced it will not be airing any episodes of DOLLHOUSE during the complete month of November and when it does come back, it will be presented as "special 2 hour episodes". More plainly put, FOX is rushing to kill the series before the new year.

As rumors, always do, surface on the internet about how The SyFy Channel (formerly The Sci-Fi Channel) would pick up the show. Seeing how they have yet to fill the void of the loss of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA and how DOLLHOUSE now needs a new home. SyFy would be a perfect fit for Joss Whedon. Also there a lot of BSG alums working on DOLLHOUSE, it would seem fitting. DOLLHOUSE would have a built in audience, even on a Friday night. But those rumors were quickly put to rest by SyFy's Official Twitter account: @SyFy "Looks like Fox finally canceled Dollhouse. (No, I don’t think we’ll pick it up.)"

Although I am sad that DOLLHOUSE will not continue on. I am happy that it will get a definitive ending. FOX ordered 13 episodes and as of this news they have only completed 11. Would it be easy for the enter DOLLHOUSE mythology to be wrapped up in 2 episodes? I think it can. I put my faith in Joss! :) Maybe DOLLHOUSE will live on one day either on SyFy or on the internet. We all know what happened after FIREFLY was cancelled. Can you say DOLLHOUSE the movie?

What do you think of the cancellation of DOLLHOUSE? Is Joss Whedon doomed to be screwed?

It's not Joss. Firefly was a horrible mistake FOX made and when he brought them Dollhouse, which just wasn't living up to what it COULD be (I have to blame Eliza Dushku, in part, for being too much of a one-dimensional actress) FOX kept Dollhouse on for a second season even though it didn't even warrant that.

Law of averages. Not even Joss Whedon can create gold every time.
